6 Secrets that will Help Your Business Grow and Flourish

How can you help your business grow and flourish?

To many CEOs and business owners are stuck, frustrated, delusional, or have simply become complacent.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]There is no doubt from my observations that this is a by-product of the pandemic. It is no surprise to me that the top 20% have dramatically increased their revenue and profitability while the balance continues to winge and complain.

The 20% know something the 80% don’t. As an advisor to CEOs and business owners I have observed the 20% and here are the six secrets that will help your business growth and flourish.

1. Check yourself and become self-aware

Know where you came from, who you are, what you stand for, and why you are here! This is about purpose and self-reflection.

2. Human Connection

Business owners must get back to basics and reconnect with your customers on a human level, pick up the phone and say hi! Don’t try and sell them something instead engage in a meaningful conversation.

3. Values

Customers are values-driven so building your future content on your values will help you on your quest for your customers to connect with you.

4. Focus really does matter

Is your business all things to everyone? If your message is confused and not relatable then how is anyone going to buy from you.

5. Building Value

To build value you need to devote more time to uncovering your customers purpose, their DNA, their values and what truly matters to them so you can find an intersection with your purpose and values.

6. Mental and Physical Availability

Are your customers thinking of your brand and are they able to access it when they’re thinking of it? When your brand is strong in both of these domains then more people can easily buy your products? As you build your business, keep asking yourself..

How you can adjust to a changing world?

How can you stay relevant and grow while being true to yourself?

What must you do to become more adaptable?

This mindset will make you referable and help your business thrive, no matter what headlines are in store for you.

3 big tips to help you deal with the holiday stress

Three tips for parenting through holiday stress

Holidays are not holidaying and for many of us entrepreneurs and business owners, this is a stressful time of year. But today I will give you effective and useful tips on how to deal with your holiday stress.

We are wrapping up our ventures, managing our people, and trying desperately to find the time to be with our family.

We make a big effort to understand our children and I personally can relate to their strong desire for learning and relentless energy. Lucy and I have developed boundaries and rules so that we can maintain some balance and harmony.

Here are our three big tips to help you with the holiday stress

1. Make space for big emotions

It’s important to have your children name what they are feeling about the holidays.

In some cases, it may be sadness because they are not able to go to Nonna’s house and have a sleepover. This may forge the feeling of longing and worry.

By naming their feeling, you create awareness and get support them. This empowers you to make better more informed decisions.

2. Practice Reframing

This is a great exercise, and it takes some practice especially for me. With your children, practice finding better-feeling thoughts.

Instead of: you can’t go to Nonna’s this holidays.

Say: We are going to zoom Nonna each week and hang out with her remotely.

3. Focus on Gratitude

Start a morning gratitude ritual. At breakfast, eat together and ask each other to share one thing you are grateful for today.

Examples:
I am grateful the four of us get to hang out together for the holidays
I am grateful that we share Christmas together and exchange gifts
I am grateful that we zoom our loved ones and spend time with them

We find these three tips for holiday stress incredibly useful with our children and it keeps them engaged and aware.

If you have any tips, please share them in the comments below as I am always looking for better ways to managing the holiday stress.

Until next time live with purpose.

Check yourself and become self-aware

Cultivating Self Awareness

Business owners and CEOs must always be thinking about how to reinvent a process, a system, their team and a product. Customer acquisition shouldn’t be a practice when you don’t have enough customers, it needs to be a constant along with many other variables.

The problem is everyone gets busy and most of the time it’s because of growth or failure.

Too many business owners forget where they started so the lesson for today is…

Check Yourself and become self-aware

Know where you came from, who you are, what you stand for and why you are here! This is about purpose and self-reflection.

Becoming self-aware is one of the single most important traits of responsible leadership. I bet you are thinking, “I have no time where I am going to find the time to reflect?” If this is you, you are screwed! But not dead, so you still have the chance to change your mindset.

What is the process of self-awareness?

  1. Start by looking at why you have no time
  2. Pause for ten minutes and focus on why you have no time
  3. Write down the exhaustive list that is holding you back from control, freedom and balance
  4. Keep Learning and become clear about your purpose

This process alone should help you realize that you actually have more time than you thought

Once you find the extra time focus 100% on becoming clear about your purpose, the why you are in business, then for who, and then look at what you actually do.

The Key to handling holiday frustration

How to handle holiday frustration in business and at home?

Tired of this holiday frustration every year and you don’t know how to handle it?
I get it, you can encounter this frustration in your family and also in business.
That’s why in this post I will share with you how I personally handle this kind of situations in business or even at home.

Let me tell you something

If you see your children feeling stressed, disappointed, sad, or lonely, the most important thing you can do is to make space for their feelings.

In fact, for our children to grow emotionally healthy, they need to know two things:

  1. All their feelings are valid and accepted. It’s okay to be not okay.
  2. Feelings come, and feelings go, they are temporary.

So, when my son feels extra sad or even angry when things don’t go as he wants to, I say:

“It’s okay to feel this way. We all get sad sometimes and it passes. You can think of your strong feelings as thunderstorms and sad feelings as clouds. Thunderstorms can be loud and scary, but they pass. Once thunderstorms and clouds pass, the sun comes out again, and you feel better.”

This visual works pretty well for my son and he understands that it’s okay to feel sad and the sadness will pass.

Remember that when children are expressing a feeling, it’s not a behaviour that we need to control or fix (of course, we do need to stop them if anyone is being unsafe).

Can this approach work on Business?

The answer is yes! We can handle holiday frustration in business.
Handling Holiday Frustration in business
This approach is similar to how we deal with our people at work. I always encourage my clients to reflect this way and manage feelings. It always gets the best out of people and builds of great culture.

A work-life balance is different for everyone so ensure you know what’s best for you and your family by checking in on how they are feeling.

I hope this content on holiday frustration helped you.

I wish you a wonderful and jo festive season with love, joy, and prosperity.

And remember to live with purpose.

3 things you can do during downtime in your business

What should you be doing if you have downtime in your business?

As we fast approach the holidays, I want to start sharing with you each week a short video with some things that you can do during your downtime that will give you your bounce and ensure you are ready to flourish in 2021

If you do these things, you will be crushing it in no time and you will feel more fulfilled and driven than ever before.

You’ll be empowered and excited as you’ll discover that your business downtime can be your opportunity to get ahead and stay ahead!

Here are 3 things you can do during your business downtime:

  1. BE PROACTIVE, NOT REACTIVE

Time is our most valuable resource.  During a downturn maximize the time and turn the downtime into an opportunity. Accomplish the tasks and projects that will enhance your company’s resilience.

This is your time to make a positive contribution to your business future! Don’t waste it.

In the words of Zig Ziglar “A negative thinker sees the difficulty in every opportunity.  A positive thinker sees opportunity in every difficulty.”

  1. REST AND RESTORE

Turn things off and recharge. There is nothing wrong with taking a break!  If you have a family hang out with them, it will repay you in love and happiness and these are things that matter.

I’m serious take 5 days off!! No hustle, no grind, just peace and quiet!! Ok maybe not peace and quiet for me with my kids, but lots of laughter for sure…. And cuddles!!!

  1. CATCH UP ON YOUR READING

Now’s the time to finally finish that book, OR start reading something you have always wanted to read!!! I highly recommend my Amazon Best Seller An Introduction to a Business Growth Mindset, its available on my website.  Hit me up with a PM for a free shipping code.

In terms of other books, I recommend Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, Good to Great by Jim Collins, Grit by Angela Duckworth, Tools of the Titans by Tim Ferris, and the classic How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

There are many more but these are a good place to start.

Five Secrets that will give you superpowers

Today I am going to share with you…

Five secrets that you can adopt to establish an adaptive culture and build an adaptive advantage

These secrets will give you superpowers and provide you with an unfair advantage over 95% of the population.

1. Look at the disruptors

Rapid growth industries often have the presence of disruptive rebels. Generally, they are new and sometimes from other industries. They are not pigeonholed in their approach and nor do they have the traditionalist views of heavily conforming and established heavyweights.

2. Recognize and take action on the uncertainties

Examine the risk and uncertainties that could impact your company, this exercise alone will force you to determine what you don’t know and how to address it.

3. Increase the Speed

The fundamental truth is there is no substitute for speed, absolutely none, now the speed of adoption is critical in the cycle of decision making, Imperfect action trumps perfect inaction every time.

4. Make risk an initiative

Adaptability must become your engine that drives your company it starts with you as a CEO or the business owner, Every source of uncertainty must be addressed with an Initiative.

5. Always seek alternatives

In stable environments, it’s easy to become complacent and merely look for small improvements to existing circumstances. Now by simply requiring that each suggestion is met with several alternatives, it will force your people to become more varied creating a powerful movement for innovation and creativity but it also legitimizes and fosters cognitive diversity as well as flexibility. Today we are faced with an uncertain and competitive reality that is forced by rapid change and disruption.  It’s not enough to simply survive and ride the wave using traditionalist approaches and fixed mindsets.  Instead, I encourage you to use this dynamic and substantial adaptative way to stay ahead so you can thrive.

Why Adaptability is A Superpower

Hi Kristian Livolsi and welcome.  Today I want to share with you…

Why adaptability is a superpower and the traits you need to develop in order to take advantage of its power.

Charles Darwin said,

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, it is the one that is most adaptable to change.”

Adaptability refers to one’s ability to quickly respond to changing trends, innovation, destabilization, industry shifts, and so forth. This ability to adjust or shift makes a business owner and CEO agile and that is important because most industries today are in some state of unrest.

For example,

Let’s consider a company whose business model has become disrupted by covid and thus revenues dip. One business owner clings onto the standard way of doing business, resists change, and subsequently drags the company and its employees towards catastrophic failure. Conversely, another business owner adapts by cutting costs, thinking differently, empowers their team, and most importantly looks to the future and carves a new path that carries the company forward through those tough times. In fact, companies lead this way generally become more profitable and more connected than previously.

From my experience of working with hundreds of CEOs and business owners’ adaptable leaders demonstrate thirteen traits and they are;

  1. They don’t complain
  2. They don’t blame others or the circumstances they are dealt
  3. They have a growth mindset
  4. They experiment
  5. They see opportunity through failure
  6. They are resourceful
  7. The think ahead
  8. They are strategic
  9. They are curious
  10. They have open minds
  11. They focus on systems and process
  12. They stay relevant
  13. They thirst for learning

Remember that all skills can be taught, and you can develop these traits by practice and repetition. The best part about these traits is that you can teach your team and great leaders focus on their team, empowering them with education and meaning.

Where focus goes energy flows.  Invest in you and your team and grow and flourish through change and reduce resistance by being adaptable.

I specialize in developing this superpower for my clients and their companies. If you want to become more adaptable or would like to review your companies ability to become more agile and adaptable please book a meet and greet call with me and let’s have a chat about your needs and wants and see if I can help you unlock this superpower.

How to thrive through chaos

The tagline for 2020 must be “Uncertain times” doesn’t it?

How can we possibly thrive through chaos? Sensational news headlines pit one side against the other and punctuate daily conversations with friends, colleagues and family members. Social media makes you wonder, “is this true or false?” Distrust grows as a result of the extra noise. Sound familiar? But YOU don’t have to live in a state of distrust. You don’t have to live in a state of fear during times of uncertainty. You always have the power to choose faith over fear.   So what would happen if you decided to push fear aside to take control of your emotions and create meaningful change? It’s time to take action and make fear work for you. It’s time to stop being afraid of what could go wrong – and get excited about what could go right.  It’s time to stop wondering who to trust – and trust yourself.   You can’t control the external forces that impact your life, but you can control how you react to them. You can make a world that seems out of control work for you by stepping into uncertainty with a new perspective. When you discover how to take charge, you decide your path… So what path will you choose? The path of fear and uncertainty? Or one of faith and absolute certainty that you can create the life you desire, no matter what? Starting today, make the decision to take back control of your emotions. Face the fear, embrace the uncertainty, and start living in a peak state.

E36 – Adaptability is a Superpower

In today’s episode, I am going to share with you why Adaptability is a Superpower and how to build your Adaptive Competitive Advantage.

What is Adaptability?

Adaptability is a human skill regarded as one of the soft and essential skills of leaders.   As a society, there has been little historical emphasis on adaptability, but one thing covid-19 has forced us to address is our ability to develop resilience and build adaptability.

As leaders, we are all required to communicate, interact, negotiate, and think critically but more importantly, the best leaders have mastered the skill to adapt to change and overcome resistance.

You must exploit the four key capabilities of;

1.     Read and act on change signals

2.     Experimentation(I often refer to this as failing forward)

3.     Managing systems

4.     Mobilising your people

To attain an adaptive advantage and thrive.

Why not just decide to grow your business with this proven strategy and live your best life. Raise your standards and step up. Today is your day, it’s your life, it’s your legacy, and you can build adaptability right now!

All you need to do is make a decision to become adaptable. Make a decision to develop the traits and implement the skills in your everyday life.
