Define your company values: Before you can hire for values alignment, you need to know what your company values are. Take some time to define your values and make sure they are clear and well-communicated to your team.
Ask values-based questions in interviews: When interviewing candidates, ask questions that help you understand their values and how they align with your company’s values. For example, you could ask about their past experiences that demonstrate their values in action.
Use values alignment as a deciding factor: When making hiring decisions, consider values alignment as one of the factors. A candidate may have all the technical skills you need, but if their values don’t align with your company’s values, they may not be the right fit for your team.
Utilise employee referrals: Your current employees are a great source of talent and align to your values. Offer incentives for referrals and encourage your team to share job postings with their networks.
Utilise social media: Post your job openings on LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social media channels to reach a wider audience. Encourage your followers to share the job posting with their networks. Demonstrate your company’s values through your posts to attract the right candidates.
Include values in job postings: Make sure your job postings clearly state your company values and the type of employee you’re looking for. This will attract candidates who share your values and help you weed out those who don’t.
Check references: When checking references, ask questions about the candidate’s values and how they align with your company’s values.
Train for values: Once you’ve hired the right people, make sure you train them on your company values and how they can uphold them in their work.

By hiring with your company values in mind, you can build a team that shares your vision and values, which can ultimately lead to a more cohesive and successful company culture.
